Cyclists from 24 nations arrived on Oshima Island early this week for the 2016 Asian Cycling Championships. The week-long road cycling schedule kicked off with the Individual Time Trial events.
Even in the quiet month of January, the 2016 Asian Cycling Championships has to compete with the WorldTour-curtain-raising Tour Down Under and, to a lesser extent, the New Zealand Cycle Classic, for share of voice.
Given the importance of this annual event to the athletes participating in Japan this week, it only seems right to dedicate a small but hopefully meaningful amount of coverage to their journeys.
Many thanks to the joint organisers of ACC2016 (Asian Cycling Confederation and Japan Cycling Federation) for making these images, shot by Sonoko Tanaka, available to share with readers here.
